Dick van Dyke has been one of the all-time greats in Hollywood for a long time now.
The actress and dancer seems to have been around since, well, since there were screens. I remember watching Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang as a young child and being very happy about it. And I’m not even going to talk about Dyke’s famous role in Mary Poppins.
Of course, Father Time has a way of catching up with everyone, and even though Dyke seems to have an almost superhuman ability to stay lively and active, it would be wrong to say that he isn’t getting older.
Dick van Dyke is now 96 years old, which might be hard to believe. Simply put, I’ll be doing something very right if I can look and act like him when I’m 96.
The New York Post says that Dyke was all smiles when he was photographed last Thursday leaving a restaurant in Malibu, California.
He also took the time to tell people that he’s “just glad to still be here.”

Dyke started his long and successful career in the 1940s. Later that day, he was seen running chores and picking up a self-tanning spray from a nearby store.
The famous actor wore a light grey jumper and blue trousers for a casual look. The Post says that he is often seen in Malibu, where he lives with his wife, Arlene Silver, and works out at a nearby gym.
In fact, Van Dyke recently told Closer Weekly that he goes to the gym up to three times a week, which is a big deal for a man who is getting close to 100.
He said in 2019: “I’ve always worked out, and I still do… I go to the pool to work out. People my age are told to keep going. If you put me on stable ground, I’ll start tapping.”
Van Dyke also thanked Silver, who was his partner, for keeping him young.

“Sometimes I forget that what we’re doing here is a great experiment. And we do some work towards that,” he said.
“There has to be some agreement. Find out which of your old habits no longer work. It takes a little getting used to, but that’s part of the fun.”
Silver, for her part, said, “He is the best person in the world. I’ve never met anyone so happy, so real, so amazing. He’s just like a happy pill.”
I, for one, am so glad that Dick van Dyke is still living and doing well. He has to be one of my all-time favourite stars.
