Famous Dads Who Did It Alone When Raising Their Families

Mothers who raise their children alone are common in today’s society, but fathers who do the same are unusual. Nonetheless, the trend exists, and dads can be observed raising their kids alone sometimes.
Bright Side compiled the anecdotes of famous dads who, for various reasons, had to raise their children alone. Some parents chose to raise their children independently, some did so when their marriages ended in divorce, and the remaining group was forced to endure terrible tragedies.

Liam Neeson, No. 1

Natasha Richardson, Liam Neeson’s wife of ten years, died after suffering a head injury while skiing at a resort. Neeson was left in charge of their two sons, Daniel, 12, and Michael, 13. It took the family a long time, but they eventually got through the catastrophe. Liam Neeson never remarried because he was so devoted to his children.

Actor Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan adopted Charlotte, then 9, and Chris, then 8, after marrying actress Cassandra Harris. After being married for 3 years, they finally had their own child, Sean. Cassandra Brosnan’s untimely death from cancer was a later tragedy for the Brosnan family. Since then, the actor has been single-handedly caring for their children. However, in 1994 he met Keely Shaye Smith, a journalist whom he eventually wed in 2001. Dylan and Paris are their two sons.

N.C. Cage, No. 3

Weston Cage was born to Nicolas Cage in 1990. The star and the mother of his child never actually tied the knot. Cage had to buy his ex-girlfriend a home in Hollywood before he could raise their baby alone. Weston, at 28 years old, is just beginning his career as an actor and musician. Cage has his second son in 2005.

Fourth, George Lucas

George Lucas, who created the iconic Star Wars franchise, has been single-handedly caring for his three adopted children for a considerable amount of time. Amanda and his ex-wife had adopted her together, but she stayed with her father. Katie and Jett, two additional adoptive children, joined the family later. All of them, by the way, appeared in relatively minor roles in Star Wars. It wasn’t until 2013 that George Lucas tied the knot again. Mellody Hobson, the current chairwoman of DreamWorks Animation and the current head of Ariel Investments, is his wife. Soon after their wedding, the couple welcomed a daughter into the world.

Al Pacino, No. 5

Al Pacino has three children out of three different women but has never tied the knot. His firstborn, Julie, was born in 1989, and his wife, actress Beverly D’Angelo, gave birth to twins, Olivia and Anton, in 2001. Even though they are no longer together as a couple, the parents of their children were able to maintain joint custody, so the children still spend time with both of them. The actor has consistently attempted to arrange his work schedule so that he could devote more time to his family.

Sixthly, Colin Farrell

In addition to Henry, 10, Colin Farrell also has a 16-year-old son, James. The mother of James is Kim Bordenave, a model; nevertheless, Farrell’s marriage to her did not last. But Colin assured his kid that he would always be provided for. Farrel had Henry, his second son, in 2009. His mum is an actress from Poland that Colin dumped soon.

Seventh, Lenny Kravitz

Lenny Kravitz, following his divorce, began raising their daughter Zo on his own. He and his wife, Lisa Bonet, had been married for three years. Zo moved in with her father permanently when she turned 11, despite the fact that both parents shared equal custody of her. Zo Kravitz is a well-known performer and model today. This pair frequently makes public appearances together.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a father to several. In 2010, a surrogate mother gave birth to his first son. He shares Cristiano’s name. For a long time, Norman Reedus, star of the AMC series The Walking Dead, has been a single parent to his son Mingus. After dating for approximately five years, his relationship with supermodel Helena Christensen eventually ended. They both have legal rights to their son, although he has spent most of his life in Los Angeles with his dad. Mingus now enters his 20th year. Reedus began dating Kruger, who is an actress, several years ago; the couple welcomed a daughter in 2018.
