This father in Kentucky loves and cares for his child more than anyone else. He got a lot of applause after he rushed home from work to spend time with his son. He was even named “Father of the Year.”
Michael McGuire is a mom who works hard, just like a lot of other people in the U.S. He wants his family to have the best life he can give them. The father works in the mines and has given up a lot for his wife and kids. He never thought that people would be moved by his kindness.
Michael’s job was hard and kept him busy, so he wasn’t always there for his kid. But he did everything he could to get there. Even the coal dust didn’t stop him.
The helpful and kind Father Michael’s life wasn’t always easy in Eastern Kentucky. To make ends meet, he had to work hard. He did this by working for Excel Mines as a roof bolter. His job lets his wife, Mollie McGuire, raise their kids while staying at home with them. She said :
“He misses a lot of these things because he has to work. So, whenever he can, he goes there, no matter how tired or dirty he is.”
Michael cared only about taking care of the people he loved. So when his family got tickets to the “Blue & White Scrimmage” at the Appalachian Wireless Arena in October 2022, nothing was going to stop him from going with his son.
As Michael grew up, he and his dad always watched games together, which was a good thing. He wanted to keep doing one of his son’s and his favorite things: watching basketball games together.

On the weekend of October 22, the father had to work late, and his wife said, “He told me, ‘I’m not going to have time to go shower, or I’ll miss most of the game with Easton.'”

When he showed up, people took note of him.
Michael got to the basketball game on time, still wearing his work clothes and covered in soot from head to toe. Even though he was dirty, he had a warm and loving heart.
Even though the dad was tired, his smile was hard to miss. He could also see how happy his son was while they played the game. Michael was so busy that he didn’t know how much attention his look got.
His wife, Mollie, was happy because he was always there for his kids. She said to him,
“He’s the most selfless person I’ve ever met, and his family always comes first!”

Michael and his son were also at the event, where the basketball team’s coach saw them and gave them VIP tickets to another game. Mollie was overjoyed by all the love and attention she was getting. But she turned the attention to all of America’s hardworking workers by saying:
“Out there, so many coal miners aren’t noticed. So, from one coal mining family to all the others, we want to say, “Your hard work and dedication matter, and we appreciate you!”
America fell in love with him because he was a good husband and father. People thanked him for being such a good model and sent their best wishes to his family:
“My husband was always dirty when he got home from work because he didn’t want to miss our kids’ games. Good parents do this, so their kids will always remember that they came first.

The love of a dad is very important, and his kids will never forget that he puts them first. Easton’s dad is a good one, so he’s lucky to have him. We hope they will be together for a long time and be happy.
